Beyonce Cancels Concert Due to Voice Problem

On Sept 6, 2016, Beyonce announced that she is postponing her concert scheduled for 9/7/16 in New Jersey until 10/7/16 due to "strict doctor's orders for vocal rest."

Details are sparse in media reports, but given the voice rest order is for only a few weeks, I suspect it's due to laryngitis of some kind, whether bacterial or viral. If nodulespolypscyst, etc. were present, voice rest would have been for several months (rather than weeks) with possible surgical intervention. Regardless, voice rest is the normal typical requirement to recover from laryngitis quickly or after surgical intervention.

Steroids are often given as well to help accelerate recovery.

The past few years have been terrible for celebrity singers and their vocal cords. Here's a running list of singers sidelined by injured vocal cords.
